Why do we test for asbestos?

2/5/2019 (Permalink)

Typical lab report on samples submitted for analysis.

Texoma has many homes, schools, and buildings with asbestos-containing materials.

How do we know if your business may contain asbestos?

We know some roofing and siding shingles are made of asbestos cement. Houses built between 1930 and 1950 may have asbestos as insulation. Asbestos may be present in textured paint and in patching compounds used on wall and ceiling joints. Their use was banned in 1977.

When SERVPRO of Wichita Falls responds to a water loss, our highly trained technicians ask several routine questions.

One question is, "when was your building built?"

If you know your property was built after 1990, you shouldn't have any asbestos or lead paint present.

If you own an older building, we assume the materials contain asbestos until a lab test proves it either does, or does not.

Either way, we will immediately begin the water mitigation process!

Because we know there’s never a convenient time for flooding or water damage to strike your business. Every hour spent cleaning up is an hour of lost revenue and productivity.

So when an emergency situation arises in your business, give us a call and we’ll be there fast with the help you need.
